August 28 was supposed to be Eetha’s release day. Now, fans will have to wait until December 4, 2026. The Shraddha Kapoor-starrer, based on legendary Marathi Lavani dancer Vithabai Narayangaonkar, has officially been postponed.
The makers announced the new release date on August 12, sharing a new poster and teasing audiences with the line, “TOOFAN ke liye taiyaar rehna… kyunki #EETHA aa rahi hai, 4th December ko!”
What is Eetha about?
Directed by Laxman Utekar, the period drama sees Shraddha Kapoor stepping into the role of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated Lavani and Tamasha performers.The film also stars Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Anant Joshi in pivotal roles.The story is based on the life and legacy of Vithabai Narayangaonkar and explores the world of Lavani and Tamasha against a period backdrop.
The film’s teaser has already generated buzz with a glimpse of Shraddha’s striking transformation into Vithabai. Set against a vibrant period backdrop, the teaser showcases the actress performing Lavani while introducing audiences to the world and cultural legacy of the legendary dancer.
Eetha marks Shraddha’s return to the big screen following the success of Stree 2 and reunites her with Maddock Films, the production house behind the Stree franchise.
Another Maddock-Laxman Utekar collaboration
For director Laxman Utekar, Eetha is his latest collaboration with Maddock Films after Luka Chuppi, Mimi, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Chhaava.The film is written by Kshitij Patwardhan, with cinematography by Akash Agrawal and music composed by Ajay-Atul.
While the delay may have disappointed fans waiting for the August release, the new December date puts Eetha among the films to watch out for toward the end of 2026. Shraddha’s period look, the film’s Lavani performances and Utekar’s track record have already created considerable curiosity around the project.
